He's name is Jimmy Bean, Never made the first team but seeing this match makes me feel proud

CHELSEA : South East Counties League Div I
Chadwell Heath

4 - 1 (Bean, Brooking, Carr, Cross)

28 January 1967

Grotier, Simmons, Tuck, Brooking, Bragger, Lampard, Clements T., Lindsay, Carr, Cross, Bean

Great to see my dad in that company. Especially as he scored before Sir Trev did! Liked this one as well:

WATFORD : South East Counties League Div I

Chadwell Heath
3 - 1 (Llewelyn 2, [1 pen], Bean)

1 October 1966

Steel, Templeman, Jarman, Knowles, Bragger, Glumart, Llewelyn, Lindsay, Carr, Bean, Lay

A strongly-built Watford side took the lead in the 25th minute after a corner, but our lads came back in sterling fashion to be 3-1 up at half-time. David Llewellyn showed that continuing experience is bringing its reward in his performances, and he marked this occasion with a scoring shot from the edge of the penalty-box in the 33rd minute and a penalty conversion a minute from half-time. Our second goal came a minute after the first of Llewellyn's successes, when a through ball from Ray Jarman was headed on by Tony Carr for Jimmy Bean to score and set the seal on his useful showing

Dad scored the final goal, assisted by Tony Carr.

Ended up in non league and I'm glad he did as when he was playing for Eastbourne Utd he played with my future uncle, met his sister who became my mum! Eastbourne Utd was Ron Greenwood's old team and he recommended they take him. They were a big non league team back then and all the players got backhanders for playing even though it was strictly amateur. He used to get the train down to Eastbourne from East Ham after work twice a week to train and play. I think The Daggers was his last team before he dropped in pub football with Newham NALGO!

The Bells are ringing for the Claret and Blue
The Bells are ringing for the Claret and Blue
When the Hammers are scoring and the South Bank is roaring
And the money is pouring for the Claret and Blue, Claret and Blue
No relegation for the Claret and Blue
Just celebration for the Claret and Blue
And one day we'll win a cup or two or three or four or more
For West Ham and the Claret and Blue.

That was a young Bobby Moore in the team. He had signed a professional contract in August of that year.

Hello Mrs Jones 6:26
Can you tell us the team in that match please. Hooper had already left the club by then and was too old for the youths anyway. Bobby Moore was only 15 so he was too young.

Nice one, Jonesy. I was wondering whether it might have been an FA Youth Cup game.

Re: Old Hammers with good memories of mid 1950's
We played Briggs quite a few times in the 1950s in both the FA Youth Cup and the London FA Youth Cup.

The match you are thinking of was on Nov. 6th 1956 at Upton Park. It was an FA Youth Cup game and we won 14-1.
If you want to WhoMail me I will send you a scan of the programme

Re: Old Hammers with good memories of mid 1950's
Thanks for the replies. I guess it must have been a friendly. But even so it got me hooked. By 57/ 58 season I was attending fairly regularly

I knew about Briggs Motors and about Rush Green. Played there myself for Ford Utd in mid 70s. We were not great. My best memory was getting 9/10 in the Dagenham Post in a 3-1 defeat against Enfieid in Amatuer Cup. As some of you pointed out it was a big competition in 50s by the 70s it was somewhat less of a crowd puller. Although for some reason this game drew a bigish crowd. Enfield were a top amateur side with several England Amatuer Internationals and the miners strike had effected football fixtures - games under lights getting cancelled due to power cuts. Also it was piayed on a Sunday morning whenRush Green was home to all Ford's inter department games. All of which boosted the gate in theArena from the usual one man and a canine to probably a few hundred maybe upto 1000. More than watch West Ham matches there now?
